Read this!!! Before watching PHILLAURI

I was so ready to like Phillauri. It was by far one of my most anticipated films of 2017, which boasted of some great actors and fantastical elements. And yet, while these are all theoretically present, they are brought to life with poor direction from newcomer Anshai Lal, leaving you with a film which tries hard but one which falls flat and is surprisingly mundane.

What’s particularly sad here is just how much the film has going for it at face value, with so much acting talent with the likes of the unendingly pleasant man-of-the-moment Diljit Dosanjh, leading lady Anushka Sharma and Life Of Pi’s Suraj Sharma making his Bollywood debut. This, coupled with a wonderfully whimsical concept makes this a sorely wasted opportunity as a result of poor, patchy execution and riddled with characters and actors that deserve a better film.

Throughout Phillauri I couldn’t help but keep wondering what it could have been in more capable hands, as there is so much promise here and it's amply clear what the makers are trying to do and how they attempt to tie the various interesting threads together. It just fails to land it. At best, Phillauri is an effort to be appreciated, just not a ride to be enjoyed.

The story tells of Kanan (Suraj Sharma) the Punjabi boy settled in ‘Canedah’ who returns home to marry his childhood sweetheart only to find out he’s Manglik and must first marry a tree, as is the (ridiculous) tradition. To his dismay, he finds out that that very tree was inhabited by a ghost named Shashi (Anushka Sharma) who he is now inadvertently married to. The film explores Kanan’s apprehension towards his own nuptials whilst exploring Shashi’s turbulent past and love story with Phillauri (Diljit Dosanjh) as they try to determine what her unfinished business might be. The film continually intercuts between Kanan’s story in present day and the past with Shashi’s budding love story with Phillauri.

The first half is by far the easier watch and is enjoyable enough, focusing largely on the comedic aspects of Kanan getting used to the fact that he now has a ghost bride, with this portion largely resting on the shoulders of Suraj Sharma’s impressive comedic timing with some fun albeit overlong gags. The equation between Kanan and Ghost Shashi is ironically one of the only arcs of the film’s plot which is given ample attention. Almost every other relationship, conflict and narrative arc in the remainder of Phillauri is casually skimmed over, barely giving the audience enough time to fully invest, digest or appreciate what’s unfolding.

This culminates in an over-dramatic midpoint where suddenly these characters we barely know, let alone care about yet, all find themselves in some sort of anguish that we are supposed to empathise with. This is particularly true of Shashi’s backstory with Phillauri which is by far the weaker of the two narratives, where again we are made to feel for characters and situations we are barely introduced to.

Similarly, the film’s music is largely used to emphasise various moments of love and pain when we've barely been able to feel them organically. Suffice to say, a great deal of it feels forced, which is particularly sad given it boasts of a great soundtrack from composers Shashwat Sachdev and Jasleen Royal offering a well-rounded mix of energetic beats and deep ballads alike.

What’s more, the film does a poor job of bringing the two stories together in how past and present interact, both in terms of editing and narrative. The transitions and inter-cutting between the two feel random and despite all best efforts, fails to draw meaningful parallels between both love stories. As a result, you find yourself increasingly coming out of the film and caring less and less as it goes on.

In terms of the performances, Suraj Sharma clearly has a lot going for him but, much like the rest of the leading cast, he deserves a better film and role through which to showcase that. Anushka Sharma fails to have the impact she usually does, more so because she doesn't have much to do, particularly as Shashi in the past, who is easily the film’s least well-realised character.

Diljit Dosanjh, Bollywood’s latest blue-eyed boy, has great screen presence and is just a lot of fun to watch and despite essaying a very patchy and underwritten character, Dosanjh oozes sincerity and makes the most of what he’s given. Not to mention getting to have quite the superstar entrance because that’s exactly what he is - a superstar in the making. Special mention of Mehreen Pirzada as Kanan’s bride Anu who makes a noticeable impact, as she manages to demand your sympathy far more than some of the film's lead characters.

Whilst Phillauri certainly has its heart in the right place, it severely falls short and in the end, it looks like the Sharma siblings will have to revisit the drawing board and follow their new company’s titular philosophy of starting with a clean slate. I'm going with 2 stars.

Awesome reply given by SC in favour of killing stray dogs!!MUST READ!!

Often, we come across people who just hate dogs and cause harm to them for no reason. Time and again they look for a chance to throw stones at them and irritate them with stupid acts. But amidst all this, people tend to forget that even these creatures have a right to live. This is exactly what the Supreme Court made everyone realize, in its response to a petition filed for killing nuisance-causing stray dogs.

The court was hearing petitions filed by People for Elimination of Stray Animals, who wanted killing of dogs who caused nuisance. On the other side were animal’s right activists, who wished to protect them. The petition was filed based on Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act; according to this, if dogs create nuisance to the public, the court can seize and kill them.

People are aware of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation act but aren’t aware of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960, as per which which only mortally wounded, terminally ill or rabid dogs can be killed. In this Act, there’s no provision for killing dogs that cause nuisance.
The complaint stated that these stray dogs must be destroyed as they created nuisance, but interestingly the SC had a different take on this. After hearing out both the parties, SC passed the verdict that “Street dogs have a right to live” and can’t be killed under any circumstances.
“When a dog barks, for some people it is a nuisance. There is another angle to this. Most dogs behave in such a way because they are troubled by people throwing stones at it or when it is subjected to some sort of pain. The municipality cannot just seize these dogs and put them to sleep permanently.”He added

SHOCKING REVELATION BY ARNAB GOSWAMI!! Wasn't allowed to enter in his studio!

Arnab Goswami, the journalist who doesn’t like to mince words and calls a spade a spade has once again said something which can create controversy in the news world. Arnab was attending a program on News24 as a guest when he exposed Times Now, the channel where he use
d to work earlier.

Arnab revealed that before leaving Times Now, he slammed the New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for protesting against demonetization and saying that demonetization was going to be the biggest scam of the Modi government. Shockingly, it was because of this reason that Arnab was not allowed to enter his own studio and was kept away from doing his show.
Arnab expressed his feelings when he said that it pained him a lot when he was not allowed to enter a studio which was built by him. He felt sad when he was prohibited entry in the institution that he built.

He has also said that he is independent from fake media; he will ask all the difficult questions and won’t be playing safe.

OMG!!India Stands 122nd rank among 155 countries in World Happiness Report 2017..Chek the top 10 happiest countries

The World Happiness Report 2017 was released on Monday and unfortunately, India slipped four ranks from its previous rank. What hurts more is that the country which is said to be promoting terrorism in India, i.e., Pakistan, is also happier than India with the 80th rank.

India has secured the 122nd rank out of the total 155 countries in World Happiness Report 2017. The report was released amid the celebrations of the International Day of Happiness at United Nations.

Among the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations, only Afghanistan was behind India with the ranking of 141 while Nepal was at 99, Sri Lanka at 120, Bangladesh at 110 and Bhutan at 97; however, Maldives was not included in this list.
The nation which has attained the top spot in this report is Norway. Yes, the country has moved up four ranks from its previous rank. Last year’s top ranker Denmark came second this time while the other happy nations in top 5 are Iceland, Switzerland and Finland.

Basically the rankings depend on the GDP per person, life expectancy and health and other four factors from surveys conducted globally. People give scores in those surveys from 1 to 10 on the basis of social support, personal freedom, corruption and generosity.T he Top 10 happiest countries are:-

1. Norway
2.Denmark
3.Iceland
4.Switzerland
5.Finland
6.Netherlands
7.Canada
8.New Zealand
9.Australia
10.Sweden

GOOD NEWS!!! NO NEED TO SHOWER EVERYDAY!! KNOW WHY?

Showers work like coffee for some, providing the stimulation it takes to wake up and start the day. Other people use them to wind down and relax after a tough day or difficult workout. But according to dermatologist Dr. Ranella Hirsch in an article for Essence, if you shower every day, it might not be good for you. Showers disrupt natural processes that occur on your skin and in your hair and nails. They also waste clean water, which so many people in the world lack access to.

.This is news to my ears. Not just because I'm lazy, but because I hate the shower. There's just so much to do in there. Plus it's dangerous. I can barely walk on land without falling, so it doesn't make sense to have me move around in a slippery shower with chemicals and razors in my hands. How I'm still alive is kind of a miracle.
If you, too, come close to death each time you turn on that faucet, or if you just wish you had a few extra minutes each week, you'll be happy to know that limiting showers can make you healthier. It can also make you look better.

OMG!!Swami Om troubles Nach Baliye makers! This is epic!!!

Bigg Boss 10 contestant and self proclaimed godman Swami Om is back in the news and its nothing new or good. This time he has shifted his focus from Colors TV to Star Plus. Reason is that Nach Baliye.
Now you all must be confused that what Swami Om has to do with Nach Baliye as he is unmarried. Well, this report will clear all this.

According to a report in Spotboye.com, Swami Om called Team Nach Baliye and started asking them (in a very irritating tone) that why arent they taking him in the show? When the makers tried explaining him this concept, guess what did Swami Om reply? Swami Om said, What if I don't have a Baliye? I can totally dance alone and compete with your other contestants. The Team member who was on the phone with Swami Om, had to try hard to explain him that what he wants is not possible. But you know it was Swami Om! He kept on insisting. At the end, team member told him that they will consider him for their next reality show. But of no use, Nach Baliye had to ultimately cut the phone to end his torture.

We cant even imagine how show would have turned out to be if Swami Om was in it.

Punjab CM Says Siddhu May be Removed From CULTURE MINISTRY If He Doesnt Quit KAPIL SHARMA SHOW!!

Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has been in news for few days now for all wrong reasons. It’s an open secret that he had a fight with Sunil Grover in a flight because of which Sunil has refused to shoot for “The Kapil Sharma Show”. Not only Grover but also Ali and Chandan have boycotted the comedy reality show. This is indeed a very bad news for all the fans of TKSS but it was definitely a great thing of relief when Navjot Singh Sidhu stated that he wouldn’t quit Kapil’s show even after being a cabinet minister.                                                                                                                                              However, Captain Amarinder Singh, CM of Punjab, made a statement on Wednesday according to which Sidhu might be given a different portfolio as his present portfolio of the Culture Ministry might result in the conflict of interest. He has stated this when the govt. of the state is seeking legal opinion whether Sidhu can continue with “The Kapil Sharma Show” or not.                                                                                                                Here’s what Captain Amarinder Singh informed reporters,

“If it’s permissible then we have no issue, otherwise he (Navjot Singh Sidhu), has Culture Ministry and we may have to change his portfolio.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    It was on Monday that Punjab CM talked about seeking legal opinion over the matter. As far as Sidhu’s take regarding the issue is concerned, he said, “the boss is always right”. Nevertheless, he repeated his statement of pursuing the TV career and continuing with TKSS. On 16th March, Sidhu took the oath of cabinet minister in Punjab government and presently, he has portfolios of local government, tourism and cultural affairs. Sidhu defended his move of being a part of TKSS by maintaining that he would need to visit Mumbai on Saturday for just a night for the shooting and other than this, he would be fulfilling each and every duty of a cabinet minister. As per his claims, TKSS was his only source of income, as he didn’t do any other thing, such as commentary. In his words,

“It is a matter of only one night. I will be available for the rest of the time                                                                                                                                                       As per Sidhu, the TV show doesn’t come under the scope of ‘office of profit’ as the government is not paying him any money.

What actually goes wrong between kapil sharma and sunil grover with latest news update

Recently reports claiming a drunk Kapil assaulting Sunil on a flight broke the internet.
According to Mid-day, a drunk Kapil was hurling abuses at a team member, Chandan Prabhakar, and that is when Sunil tried to step in to save the day. But Kapil got even more upset, and ended up physically and verbally assaulting Sunil.
"A female passenger asked Kapil to keep quiet, so Sunil told him, 'Paaji tussi gaali mat do'. But he got provoked and started abusing him. Sunil also got angry and stood up, but the other members stopped him. He then walked to the economy class where Kapil chased and hit him," Mid-day quoted a source as saying.
In fact, Kapil apparently did not even spare actors Ali Asgar and Kiku Sharda.
However, Kiku said in a statement that Kapil did not abuse him in any manner, and said that he is a "sweet guy."                                                                                                                                                                                  Kapil posted an apology on Twitter. He had tweeted, "Paji @WhoSunilGrover sry if I hurt u unintentionally. u knw vry well how much I luv u. M also upset. love n regards always."
Sunil's reply to Kapil Sharma's apology   Sunil Grover took to Twitter and wrote a rather hard-hitting response to Kapil Sharma's apology.                                                                                                                                                                  Speaking to The Quint, a close friend of Sunil’s said that the actor has not given any statements to any media houses as is falsely being reported. He also said that Sunil is contractually bound with Sony (which airs the Kapil Sharma Show) until April 23 and is therefore not in a position to address what happened during the fight between him and Kapil.                                                                                                                                                        T o even suggest that Sunil is asking for a fee hike to continue with The Kapil Sharma Show, as is being insinuated by a section of the press, is ridiculous. Even if Sunil is offered twice the current remuneration he wouldn’t continue with the show. He has made up his mind to move on,” the friend said

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE RAM MANDIR DISPUTE

The Ramayana states that the location of Rama's birthplace is on the banks of the Sarayu river in the city of Ayodhya. A section of Hindus claim that the exact site of Rama's birthplace is where the Babri Masjid once stood in the present-day AyodhyaUttar Pradesh. According to this theory, the Mughals demolished a Hindu shrine that marked the spot, and constructed a mosque in its place. People opposed to this theory state that such claims arose only in the 18th century, and that there is no evidence for the spot being the birthplace of Rama.
The political, historical and socio-religious debate over the history and location of the Babri Mosque, and whether a previous temple was demolished or modified to create it, is known as the Ayodhya dispute.
In 1992, the demolition of Babri Masjid by Hindu nationalists triggered widespread Hindu-Muslim violence. Since then, the archaeological excavations have indicated the presence of a temple beneath the mosque rubble, but whether the structure was a Rama shrine (or a temple at all) remains disputed.
Several other sites, including places in other parts of India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nepal, have been proposed as birthplaces of Rama.

DEMOLITION OF BABRI MASJID
On 6 December 1992, a large crowd of Hindu Kar Sevaks (volunteers) demolished the 16th-century Babri Mosque in the city of Ayodhya, in Uttar Pradesh. The demolition occurred after a political rally at the site turned violent.
In Hindu mythology, the city of Ayodhya is the birthplace of the God-king Rama. In the 16th century a Mughal general, Mir Baqi, had built a mosque, known as the Babri Masjid, at a site considered by some Hindus to be Ram Janmabhoomi, the actual birthplace of Rama. In the 1980s, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) began a campaign for the construction of a temple dedicated to Rama at the site, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as its political voice. Several rallies and marches were held as a part of this movement, including the Ram Rath Yatra led by L. K. Advani.
On 6 December 1992 the VHP and the BJP organised a rally at the site involving 150,000 volunteers, known as kar sevaks. The rally turned violent, and the crowd overwhelmed security forces and tore down the mosque. A subsequent inquiry into the incident found 68 people responsible for the demolition, including several leaders of the BJP and the VHP. The demolition also resulted in several months of intercommunal rioting between India's Hindu and Muslim communities, causing the death of at least 2,000 people.

MERA AMRITSARI ANUBHAV

                                            MERA AMRITSARI ANUBHAV

Roz ki tarah ek boring din.har shaam sannate se bhara lekin phir bhi ek sukoon.sukoon, iss baat ka ki jahan bhi hun jaisi bhi hun.hun to apne parivaar ke saath hi.phir achanak ek shaam khabar milti hai ki papa ka transfer ho gaya hai.sunte hi jaise chhati pe saap lotne lag gaya ho.par karun bhi to kya karun mere haanthon  me to kuchh bhi nahi.jahan transfer hua wahan to jaana hi tha aakhir majboori jo thi.apne dada- dadi, chacha-chachi , bhai -behno ke saath rehne waale vyakti ko agarek akele ghar me rehna pade to kaisa lagta hai mai achhi tarah se samajh sakti hun.maine mehsoos jo  kiya hai .khair na chahte hue bhi hame jana hi tha.ye baat  hai sann 2000 ki jab mai 14 varsh ki thi. unn dino mere dada ji ki  tabiyat bahut kharab rehti thi.haalat to unki ye thi ki palang par se uthna toh door khana tak khane ke liye bhi vo sabhi par aasrit the.mere papa unke sabse bade bete aur sabse laadle hua karte the. lazmi hai jab unhe pata chala ki papa aur hum sab unhe chhod ke jaaa rahe hain to ve bade aahat hue.aakhrkaar vo din aaya jab hamen apna ghar chhodna tha .hum gaye lekin maine mere baba (dada g) ko kaha ki hum 2 mahine baad zaroor apne ghar wapas aaenge.kaha to yunhi tha lekin uss waqt hamen kahan pata tha ki sach  mein 2 mahine baad unke maiyaat par hamen aana padega.

Khair ab baat karte hain amritsar ki. . jaisa ki hum sab jaante hain guruon ka shehar hai amritsar.
swarn mandir, jallianwallah bagh, durgiana mandir aur na jaane kya kya pehchan hai iski .sach kahun to wahan rehne ke mere shuruaati dino me mujhe amritsar kuchh khasa pasand nahi aaya.uski ek wajah ye bhi ho sakti hai ki jahan se mai amritsar aayi thi wo jagah aur wahan ke log yahan se kaafi alag the.
Mujhe aisa lagne laga tha ki jaise amritsar ki maine kalpana ki thi ye to usse kafi alag hai.yahan ke logon ko kisi se koi matlab nahi hai.sab apni dhun me magan .mujhe to yahan tak lagne laga tha ki yahan ke log kaafi ghamandi hain.aur abhi bhi mujhe kuchh hadd tak wo baatein sahi lagti hain.lekin har baat nahi.
Samay beet ta gaya.haalaat badalte gye.rehen sehen ka tarika badalta gaya.mere liye sab kuchh kaafi tez gati me ho raha tha.mai tang aa gayi thi aisi life se jahan mujhe sbeh se dopeher school aur uske baad 2-3 ghante ke tution jaana hota .thak haar kar jab ghar aati tab tak 5:30-6 baj gaye hote.sa ghadi dekhti to lagta ki ye  kya saara din toh nikal gaya ab shaam guzaarni hai tv dekh kar ya padh kar jaise life me kuchh aur baaki hi nahi tha.

Phir dheere dheere yahan rehne ke saath mere yahan ke logon ke prati jo soch thi wo badalne lagi.
haan ye baat sach hai ki mujhe yahan ke logon ke saath ghulne milne me kaafi samay laga par phir dheere dheere maine yahan ke logon ke liye meri soch badli.school me bhi sab logon ke saath ghulne milne me ab zyada mushakkat nahi karni parti.yahan ka khana baa-t cheet ke dhang se mai kuchh hadd tak prabhavit hui. sabse zyada to swarn mandir me jaane se itna sukoon milta ki mai kya kahun.ye to aapko waha jaake mehsoos karna hoga.sach me kisi bhi mandir, masjid, mazaa,r gurudwara ya church me jaane se jaise sukh ki anubhooti hoti hai wo aur kahan milehi.

Ab iyna sab kuchh ool jhoolool ki baaton ke baat mai amritsar ke baare me itn ahi kehna chahungi ki agar aap yahan naye hai to shuruaati dino me aapko yahan rehne me thodi bahut kathinaaiyaan to hungi lekin phir aap bhi yahan ke ho jaaiega.amritsar sach me guruon ki nagri hia.yahan ke logon ka dil kaafi bada hai jiska ehsaas yahan rehne ke saath aaplogon ko ho jaaega
aur har jagah achhe aur bure log to hote hi hain.kyun?

chaliye ab mai aapko batati hun uss waqt ki baat jab maine amritsar chhoda.sabse zyada to dukh mujhe swarn mandir naa jaane ka hua.kjair hum wahan se phir nikle aur mumbai gaye.mai apne agle blog me aapko mumbai ki yaatra ke baare me bataungi.kripya meri galtiyon ke baare me mujhe bataye taaki mai unhe sudhaar sakun.

Aarthik vimudrikaran
